ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up comes real
I've looked at love that way

But now its just another show
You leave em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
Its love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, and they tell me that I've changed
Well somethings lost, but somethings gained
In living every day

Ive looked at life from both sides now
From win
Sabes Que Somos De Calle

Grab your phone and answer.

Tag everyone mentioned.

Go!

1. Do you have a camera phone? If so who's/what's the 3rd picture of?
Yes, picture of Orlando sleeping-- they drew on his arm

4. Who's the first person who comes up under the letter b?
Ben

5. Who's the last person you called? Why?
Ethan-- it's is birthday!

6. Who was your last missed call from? Why didn't you pick up?
Unknown number-- because I was half asleep and not interested enough.

7. Who's the 5th person who comes up under C?
Carlos

8. Who's your speed dial number 2?
Don't have/use speed dial

10. Who was your last received call from?
Jaime-- I was "late" to the exec board meeting

12. What does your banner say?
gemini

13. How many messages are currently in your inbox?
100

14. What is the background? Why?
It's a picture of coral and anemones that I took while at the aquarium with my family. Because it's colorful.

15. Who's speed dial number 1?
If I call 1, it would be voicemail, though I don't know if that counts towards "speed dial" since it's default on phones anyway.

16. Who is the 5th message from in your inbox? What's it say?
"Lol u use whatever when u have nothing else to say aha" - CRuv

17. Who is the first person under S?
Safe Ride haha

18. How many bars of signal do you currently have?
2 :(

19. what service do you have?
Sprint

20. Name every person you have text messages from in your inbox:
Michelle, Carlos Ruv, Erik, Dora, Josh, Maddy, Pearle, Nick, Ethan, Jack, Sarah, Roger, Jaime, Cheyney, Mom, James, Dad, Kathy, Liz, ChaCha, Matt, Jen

21. who is the 5th person under A?
Ajay

22. Who is the 9th person on your missed calls list?
Jen

23. What does the 6th text message say in your inbox?
"U owe me ;)" - CRuv

24. who is the first person in your contacts?
Abby Nickle

25. Who is the last name in your Phonebook?
Zz-MIT Police, if that counts. If not, then Zaira.
Show Me The World In The Shape Of Your Looking Glass

"Fifteen books you've read that will always stick with you.":

1. White Oleander, by Janet Fitch / I really enjoyed the language and imagery of this book. The way the characters were presented not only made me want to meet them but write more.
2. Welcome to the Monkey House, by Kurt Vonnegut / By this I mean the conglomeration of Vonnegut's short stories, not just the one, though Welcome to the Monkey House is one of my favorites in that collection. Yes, I loved Slaughterhouse Five, but the short stories are more fun to go back to whenever you need a quick read of somethin.
3. Catch-22, by Joseph Heller / Almost everyone who has recommended books to me has suggested this one, and I'm glad they did. It's humorous, though not in a way that everyone can appreciate which makes it even more interesting .
4. Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett / Hilarious. I remember telling everyone in my 8th grade class to read it and I still love it.
5. Poton El Gato No Quire Pato, by Paco Climent / Definitely one of my favorite children's books. I would read it all the time with Carmen-- it's probably more Spanish than I've read in a long time.
6. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, by Ken Kesey / Anyone who's ever read this should understand why it's on my top.
7. Girl, Interrupted, by Susanna Kaysen / No, I don't have a weird thing with insane asylums, but I really enjoyed this book. The characters were so vivid.
8. Letters To A Young Poet, by Rainer Maria Rilke / My 8th grade English teacher (definitely one of my favorite teachers, by the way) tried recommending this book to me when I was really getting into poetry. Then I pulled it out of my backpack.
9. Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley / What I liked most about this book is that it made me think about future societies and potential genetic breakthroughs, as well as the question of any reality in bioethics.
10. The Black Cat, by Edgar Allan Poe / Yes, Poe's short stories were a bit on the strange side, but I found a handout of this story in the pages of one of my journals the other day and was reminded of why I kept it.
11. On The Genealogy of Morality, by Friedrich Neitzsche / Solely because it was the first book my brother gave to me, followed shortly thereafter by Hammer of the Gods.
12. Where the Sidewalk Ends, by Shel Silverstein / This is on my cousin's list, and I have to agree, it is completely necessary.
13. To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee / This book on it's own can be kind of cliched in terms of "favorite books," but I'm still putting it on here because Atticus Finch is one of my favorite characters.
14. Getting Over It, by Anna Maxted / I love that this book uses phrases like "you wanker." Everyone needs a good laugh every once in a while.
15. I want to put Count of Monte Cristo, but I haven't finished yet, so I'll end with a classic: The Cat in the Hat, by Dr. Seuss / No explanation necessary.

I'm nostalgic for a past that never existed. I miss things that will never come again.

I miss you. I love you.
The Chemicals Between Us

Some are to more than one person. Some are for the same person. Regardless, here are some things I have not said. It's the same thing as that old school "write 20 things to different people that you would say at this moment" only extended and without rules. This is a try at catharsis.

1. I miss you so much. It still makes me sad to know I will barely see you this summer.
2. I probably should not have kissed you on the cheek that one time. Though I do feel bad for not doing it again when we said goodbye because I think you were expecting me to, especially after you kissed my forehead.
3. I probably should have kissed you when I had the chance. I actually was planning to....
4. I miss the comfort of having you around, which is probably why everything got so complicated for a while. Things are better now, but I still miss you sometimes.
5. It scares me how much I cared when you got a girlfriend though I don't think I will ever be able to tell you that.
6. I don't like the way you handled the entire situation all year because I feel like you could be in a relationship now if you played your cards right and he wasn't so awkward about it. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's your fault it didn't work out, but it takes two to make a thing go right and I don't think either of you knew what to expect.
7. You need to learn to grow up. You're going to be 20 and still don't know how to deal with people on a more intimate level and it depresses me. I wish you would talk to me or at least someone at school.
8. It bothers me that you don't talk to me about anything going on with you, yet you still find it okay to ask me about me. I appreciate it a lot, I really do, especially since a lot of other people close to me do not always ask, but I still don't like that you will not open up to me. I can't force you to talk, but even if I could I wouldn't because it doesn't mean the same.
9. I think you think I'm a slut. Or at least slutty. I can't really blame you because of what happened, though I disagree entirely. But I could never tell you that.
10. You may be clinically depressed but I know you're strong enough to handle it which is probably why I don't always know what to tell you.
11. I missed having lunch with you so much this past month and a half.
12. I hate how neither of us call each other sometimes.
13. You're not always that down-to-earth but you're very logical and intelligent. But you need to stop giving in to the pressure you feel from some of your peers.
14. I think it's a good idea that you live at your frat next year so that you can get away from certain people on your hall, though I think it'd be better for you to know how to talk to them without feeling so bad sometimes. I'm glad you talked to me about it, though, and that it's getting better.
15. You need to calm the fuck down. I'm afraid you're going to burn out before you're 20 because you know that's the road you're choosing but just do not change because your mindset tells you you're a failure otherwise. I'm glad that I got you to distract yourself for 2-3 hours the night before our organic chemistry final.
16. I'm sorry that I don't talk to you more about boys and other more deep and interesting things aside from p-sets because I really do miss you. You're so full of life and get excited by so many things--it's enviable.
17. I'm sorry that I usually have nothing to say to you.
18. I'm sorry you might have failed.
19. Please talk to S^3. I want you to come back.
20. You were the first person I called when I got back into town (after Jaime, that is, who was in Austin since we were planning to meet up) and you've never even been to Texas. I can safely say that you are one of the few people at MIT who I feel genuinely comfortable talking to when I have an issue or just need to talk.
21. I miss talking to you---thanks for calling me earlier today.
22. I know things will be different this summer with all of us. I just hope it isn't too drastic a change so that we don't stay in touch during sophomore year.
23. You ignored our friendship for 4 years. Possibly longer. Somehow I don't think you care too much, though, because you have your boyfriend who I have not met and actually know nothing about, but I already know isn't good enough for you, or at least not who you could be if you took a step back and realized how great, funny and intelligent you are. However, my words mean nothing to you on this subject because to you I'm just some awkward nerd who doesn't get any action. I just wish you wouldn't filter me on your LJ friends because that really is low---you can't expect to have someone be a "best friend", or at least very close to you if you insist on shoving them away. I want you to know that I never left you.
24. I hate how so many people at the house compare me to you. I'm not like you in so many ways it's ridiculous.
25. I really hope everything works out for the best for you. You deserve it. I'm sorry everything is so terrible for you and your family---I wish I knew what to say to make it better and take it all away. At least your sister is doing better.
26. Thanks for teaching me some things about pool. I want to be able to beat you one day, though I feel like that is not going to happen.
27. I used to miss your texts. I don't really anymore, though the ones you do choose to send generally are hilarious. You are kind of ridiculous sometimes.
28. Please dump your boyfriend. Goddddd I can't believe you're still dating. You were out of line when you flicked off my sister and I still hate that you did it.
29. I wish I had your drive to put out a CD and get better recording equipment. But I don't and I don't think I ever will until I'm old and can't.
30. I'm sorry I haven't talked to you in a long time. I think that's part of the reason why I finally sent you a recording with my singing voice.
31. Sometimes, when I get lonely, I reread your messages.
31. I'm afraid that I love you.
32. I'm glad I'm living next to you next year.
33. I wish I talked to you more. I hate growing up for exactly that reason.
34. You surprised me when you told me you were jealous of how chill I am about everything. I was not expecting that at all.
35. You're so loud.

I do not sympathize with anyone who doesn't like writing or any form of arts (excluding music because if you don't like music, I just don't like you) because there is no formulaic way of doing it.

It's not my fault you're uncreative and unappreciative. Go read a book. Please.

Witness History

Lincoln Memorial concert: We got there a little late because it's hard to bus around 5,000 college students, especially in zones with crowds of people and the police trying to direct you everywhere, so we didn't get to see the very beginning with Denzel Washington, but did see everything else. I took a bunch of pictures while there---so many celebrities, not to mention so many frickin' people! The ladies standing in front of us were pretty hilarious though, my roommate and I kept on cracking jokes about random things like "OH MY GOD IF ANGELINA IS UP THERE...." "Naw, Angelina was a McCain fan, she won't be there" "...How do you know that?!" We were pretty far back in the concert, though. Colin Powell spoke to us at the University of Maryland earlier that day which is why, instead of going early to secure a spot at the concert, we woke up at 4:30AM to get breakfast at 5 to hear Colin Powell at 8AM at the University of Maryland. We heard Al Gore speak at the same stadium the day after the concert, and I must say, that even though it was more crowded at Al Gore's speech, I was more impressed with Colin Powell's because he talked about the importance of this inauguration in history as well as his story about going into the military. Back in the day, there used to be this one hotel (between 2 cities, I forgot which he said) that every black person knew about called the Ghana Hotel, and if you didn't get there, you had to keep on driving or stay with family because no one else would take you. The basic outline of Al Gore's speech: there are 3 problems--wars, economy and climate change--and it is up to YOU to help bring change. He is a great speaker, had some good stories, but I like Colin Powell more.

Inauguration and parade: Firstly, I'm going to mention that this entire trip/conference was poorly organized-- there was even a petition going around complaining about it. Of course since it's college students, we could petition about anything, but whatever. There were too many people, too few buses, and no communication at all between the director and buses and the FAs (faculty advisors-- they basically were stationed around if you needed to ask a question). I mean, yeah, 5000 college students is a lot of people to handle, but if you ask everyone to be somewhere at a certain time, it shouldn't be so terrible, assuming you pay attention to the police who try to direct traffic (which was also apparently too difficult to do).

So anyway, all of the university students who were there at the conference did not receive tickets to the inauguration (despite thinking they/we all did), so at least half of us left our respective hotels at around 2 or 3AM to walk the 3 or so miles to the National Mall, hoping to get a good view of the inauguration. Nobody told us where to go/how to get there, just to wake up early and go if we wanted to because it was going to be crowded. They did rent out a few places to watch the inauguration on tv, but really, travel all the way to DC to watch it on tv? No fucking way. My roommate and I got to a checkpoint where they were stopping people around 4AM and I'd say there were less than 100 people in front of us--- they said they'd let us past at 7, so we waited for 3 hours outside a Starbucks (which was a TERRIBLE place to have a checkpoint). It was actually kind of fun at first-- I liked the idea of staking out territory and camping out to ensure a good view. The crowd was pretty cool at first, there was a group of other college students (not from the conference) right in front of us, and they were singing and dancing around to try to keep warm. Oh yeah, it was fucking cold. Like, REALLY fucking cold. It got to be just before 7 and the police finally let us break through, only to make us stop again, this time at closed gates. We were kinda close to the front, mostly from running the 2 blocks to the next gate, but what we didn't know was the line we were in was to get to the parade and not the inauguration, which NOBODY told us. Nor did they tell us that the line we were in was for non-ticketed people. The people from the conference said that once we got to high security places our ticket into these places would be the lanyard they gave us with our names and a big picture of the capital and something line "presidential inauguration conference"--- no one we showed it to recognized it though, so it is a good thing we stayed in the non-ticketed line.

Anyway, the gate opened around 8:15 or so, but only lets in a few people at a time to go through the metal detector security. Efficient for security purposes, but so slow for 1000+ people standing in line. We were near the intersection 7th and D, and before 9:30, there were already people backed up past F street (where a metro is). 2 people in the crowd we were in fainted. This time we were next to a different group of college students (who were in the same conference as us) who decided they wanted to sing as well. Everyone seemed to pick the same songs to want to sing, my roommate and I joined in on a few. Lean On Me, American Pie, Piano Man, etc. They tried singing Brass Monkey, which lasted only a few seconds and then they remembered that that entire song can be summed up in "brass monkey that funky monkey," then they stopped. I'll write a list of all the songs I remember from the trip later.

Basically, security and standing in line with a massive crowd sucked, especially since we thought we had tickets to the inauguration. We got to the parade, I was extremely tired, and my boots (yes, I was wearing leather boots with heels because it was fucking cold and I didn't bring my snow boots---I literally could not feel my toes. I put hand-warmers in my boot and didn't even notice a difference) were killing me, so we get hot dogs (the only thing we ate until much much later) and sit down for a bit. We technically had about 2 hours before Obama would take his oath, even though we didn't sit that long-- most of that time was spent walking around looking for a good vantage point to see the parade (by this point we had given up on getting closer to the inauguration, even if we could get a decent spot, we would still have to hear him over the intercom). As soon as Obama began speaking, everyone shut up. It was amazing-- being there when he spoke. I really was getting teary just knowing how impactful and historical this event was and knowing that I was just down the street, but, you know me, I will not cry in public, so I stopped myself.

We move around again, looking for a better place to watch parade and we get to MSNBC set-up with Ann Curry, who is extremely sweet in person. We were right in front (pretty sure my roommate and I are in the background of some of that footage) and had a pretty good view of the parade, except for the fact that there were policemen lined up so getting a good picture was impossible, though I took them anyway. The parade was late because Ted Kennedy had a seizure, which we only knew because Ann Curry told us. A lady next to me asked if I could take a picture with her and Ann Curry several times until we actually got her attention. She was really sweet and very appreciative-- the crowd isn't always as nice when it comes to celebrities. She took a picture of me and her, as well, which I thought was pretty funny.

As soon as Obama got closer, the crowd got louder. It was IMPOSSIBLE to get a good picture of him in that crowd. I had a front row place, but was pushed out of the way by some other lady who stood on the railing that was keeping us from getting too close to the MSNBC stage/equipment. My roommate, the girls behind me and I were all extremely pissed off at her since she was technically in the front row, and standing on something that made her taller than everyone else. I tried taking a video of Obama's walk because I knew I couldn't get a picture--too risky to try, but even that failed with the lady next to me still shoving me out of the way and accidentally elbowing my camera. It was just bad. I got no pictures of Obama at all. I did get a few of Biden, though, which was slightly consoling, but the fact that we had waiting 14 hours to see Obama and then still didn't get a good picture/video pissed me off. I mean, I didn't really expect to get a "good" picture, but a video with a glimpse of him would have been nice.

Gala: The majority of people left as soon as Obama passed by them in the parade---we took the metro back to the hotel. I made it to the elevator in my boots then took them off as soon as I had enough room, where I took a shower and got ready for the gala. There were a bunch of galas and/or balls, but no, Obama did not go to ours. The conference I was with rented out the Air&Space Museum for our gala (which was actually extremely badass) where we got food. My roommate and I had a bunch of leftover Peach Bacardi (the night before, she got some 39 year old to buy her/us some peach bacardi because we said we were here on a conference and left our ids in our hotel room but the liquor store closed in 20 minutes so we didn't have time to get get ids, etc), so I had several shots worth and was slightly drunk for the first part of the party, but no one noticed. Not even my roommate who, was also slightly drunk, but we basically didn't leave each other's side the entire time we were there. I sobered up quicker than expected. They had a live band (Burnt Sienna) that played covers to hit songs-- even some 90's music too like Eve 6 and Lit. Aside from eating, I basically danced and talked the whole night. The buses were late picking us up, but that was expected. Hooray for unorganization, which I don't think is a word, whatever.

Overall, I think it was worth it to go. Maybe not worth it to do the whole program though I am glad I heard the speeches by Al Gore and Colin Powell. And then there were 4 seminars sometime throughout this entire trip-- I went to 3 and fell asleep at 2. The one I didn't fall asleep through was with someone who worked with Britney Spears in the music industry.

Regardless, it was a great experience, and despite the fact that everything was unorganized, I'm glad I went. As cliche and lame as it sounds, I witnessed history.

Sorry this is hella long, I have been told I have memory issues and therefore am trying to be particular for my sake. It's entries like this that I have to remind myself why I write in this journal---for myself.

EDIT: Was sent this picture from LUChA mailing list a while back and decided to put it on here for reference: http://gigapan.org/viewGigapanFullscreen.php?auth=033ef14483ee899496648c2b4b06233c

Girls' Night is tonight for Spanish House--it's been moved so many times I don't even know how it'll work but it's apparently tonight after the electronics workshop. It was supposed to be tomorrow night so I had already made plans with Jaime to go out, but now he's going to the movies with some of the guys and I'll be here with the girls. Should be interesting.

This entry kind of fails in substance.

Jaime's contribution:

Equation that describes the universe

R(a,b)-(1/2)R g(a,b)=(8 pi)T(a,b)

where R(a,b) is the ricci curvature tensor, R is the scalar curvature, g(a,b) is the metric, and T(a,b) is the stress energy tensor

Solution 1
Schwarchild metric
(spherical mass)
ds^2=-(1-(2 m/r))dt^2+(1-(2 m/r))^-1*dr^2+r^2(dtheta^2+Sin[theta]^2*dphi^2)

If measuring the observer measures zero motion for the mass near the spherical mass then the integrated time is

tau=Sqrt[(1-(2 m/r))]*t

where tau is the proper time i.e. the time measured by the particle near the mass
In other words the eqn shows that time is relative near different gravitational potentials

This Is The Way I Need To Wake--I Wake To You

1. I've come to realize that my butt: is hard to shop for, usually.

2. I've come to realize that when I talk: I don't always care about what I'm saying.

3. I've come to realize that if I love someone: I will always find something about them to love/like, even after I refuse to love them the same way again.

4. I've come to realize that I need: balance and time.

5. I've come to realize that I've lost: things and people that I have loved and still do. Maybe no lost, but definitely misplaced---it's hard to keep things the same when everything else is changing.

6. I've come to realize that I hate it when: I'm alone for no reason.

7. I've come to realize that if I'm drunk: I get irritated easier.

8. I've come to realize that money: provides opportunities, but I would still rather be happy than extremely rich.

9. I've come to realize that my mother: will always be one of my favorite people.

10. I've come to realize that I'll probably always be: a little too analytical as well as too careful with certain people's feelings.

11. I've come to realize that I have a crush on: people I can talk to and who trust me

12. I've come to realize that the last time I cried was: because I hurt someone I care about.

13. I've come to realize that my mobile phone: is one of my best friends here

14. I've come to realize that when I wake up in the morning: I'm happiest waking up with someone.

15. I've come to realize that before I go to sleep at night: I'm thinking

16. I've come to realize that right now I am thinking about: how much work I have to do this week, how I don't want to do it, and how much I miss being home but how much I will miss the people here when I go back.

17. I've come to realize that babies: are adorable and currently missing from my life.

18. I've come to realize that when I get on livejournal: it is usually with the hope that either Liz or Cheyney updated.

19. I've come to realize that today I will: need to work.

20. I've come to realize that tonight I will: need to sleep.

21. I've come to realize that tomorrow I will: hopefully finish 18.02 pset.

22. I've come to realize that I really want to: hug someone right now.

23. I've come to realize that who is most likely to repost this is: no one.

24. I've come to realize relationships: are important but can be difficult and restraining

25. I've come to realize love: is complicated, and takes many different forms---thus, is more common than some people realize

26. I've come to realize my best guy friend: right now is my boyfriend.

27. I've come to realize my best girl friend(s): are reliable and incomparable to almost everybody here

28. I've come to realize food: is something I don't mind going without for a while

29. I've come to realize that when I'm a girlfriend: I'm very accepting, but also can cause tension when I'm not careful

30. I've come to realize girls and boys: don't always like to play nice.

31. I've come to realize over the summer: I've become more lenient about some things

32. I've come to realize heartbreak: has a lesson to be learned.

It allowed the progressive thinking artists to show a different side to the world around them. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a 'new kind of art' which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy. Abstract artists created art that was diverse and reflected the social and intellectual turmoil in all areas of Western culture.

People that chose abstract art as their preferred artform tend to be visionsaries. They see things in the world around them and in people that others may miss because they look beyond what is visual only with the eye. They rely on their inner thoughts and feelings in dealing with the world around them instead of on what they are told they should think and feel. They feel freed from the tendancy to be bound by traditional thought and experiences. They look more toward their own ideas and experiences than what they are told by their religious upbringing or from scientific evidence. They tend to like to prove theories themselves instead of relying on the insight or ideas of others. They are not bound by common and mundane, but like to travel and have new experiences. They value intelligence, but they also enjoy a challenge. They can be rather argumentative when they are being forced or feel as if they are being forced to conform.

Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test at HelloQuizzy

I'm Too Young To Worry

I have two p-sets due tomorrow, two tests (one in calculus, another in physics) and a p-set due for Chemistry on Friday, essay for writing class due on Tuesday as well as some oral presentation for that class due on Thursday.

Cooking for Spanish House for the first time tomorrow. Jaime (cooking partner) and I went to Shaws to buy everything for making tacos (we don't cook, haha). Spanish House Retreat this weekend. For Bonding. Not sure what to think about it, yet.

I've already begun texting and sleeping in class as well as sleeping in to be be slightly late to my first classes of the day, though I have yet to skip any thus far. My roommate woke up at 5 yesterday and today instead of going to classes. I laughed.

I ran 1.5 miles yesterday, then cool down for another 0.5 miles. I alternated between values between 7 and 8 mph for speed on the treadmill, which was probably a bad idea since that was the first time I've run that long of a distance nonstop since soccer season (which ended early February/late January). I am planning on doing IM soccer up here, though, so that should be fun. My legs feel jello-y and my feet hurt from lack of good running shoes/good insoles: I need better support. I took several chongos and put them around the arch of my foot over my socks to see if that helps keep the arch of my foot from collapsing. As weird as it sounds, the pressure actually feels nice on my feet.

Love Like Winter

Registered for classes today. Will post my schedule when I get it. For now, I'm not really all that tired, so I think I'm just gonna do this myspace survey:

Where is the person who has your heart at this moment?
At this moment, I can't decide, though somewhere on the east coast, I would imagine.

Are you waiting for something?
For this weekend, for classes to start, for thanksgiving so I can see my friends from home

What were you doing at ten last night?
Chillin' at Spanish House. I think it was around 10 that Dora, Reece and I decided to go get Bagel Bites, though...not sure, but basically somewhere around campus

Last myspace message you received?
oh god, it's been a while.

Can you handle the truth?
Yes

Have you broken a bone?
No

Have you ever had a panic attack?
Not really

Can you sleep in jeans?
Yeah

Want someone back in your life?
Not necessarily "back" as they are not gone from my life, but a more frequent presence would be nice from a few people.

Are you good at giving directions?
If I know where I'm going EXACTLY, which is a rare occasion

Who was your last text from?
Colleen!

Ever licked someone's cheek?
I don't think so, though it is possible.

What is your favorite thing to eat with peanut butter?
Either oreos, bananas or just a PB&J sandwich

Where were you on July 5th, 2007?
SA probably? No idea.

Could you go out in public looking like you do now?
I could. I'd probably look like I were on my way to/from a gym.

On the opposite sex where do you like them to have piercings?
Not really anywhere.

Have you ever made someone so mad that they broke something?
Yeah.

If you could go back in time, how far would you go?
Alexandria Library.

Is your phone within a meter radius of you?
Yep

What is something you would love to happen tomorrow?
Something excitingly awesome?

What is bothering you right now?
I'm not that bothered at this instant.

Was New Year's enjoyable?
Yeah. Family time.

Is there a high chance of you going out to the movies soon?
Not really. I could have feasibly gone tonight since one of my (guy) friends was invited to the movies by some frat boys. Rush is starting up soon.

Are you easily scared by horror/thriller films?
I get jumpy, but after the movie is over I'm generally not that frightened so much as creeped out a little, depending on the movie.

What are you afraid of?
Seeing one of my friends get killed in front of me and me not being able to do anything to stop it is a fear I've had almost all of my life, albeit extremely unlikely. When asked this question I generally just answer with forgetting things, and being wasted potential.

Last place you went out to eat?
Student Center

What are you thinking about right now?
I should organize my room.

When was the last time you intentionally made someone cry?
oh my god, uhhh, I don't even remember doing that at all, actually.

When was the last time you wanted to punch someone in the face?
Not recently. A few months ago, probably back in May or June or something.

What are you craving?
Bagel Bites. And Taco Cabana.

When was the last time someone cried in front of you?
The other day right before my parents left- my mom cried/tried really hard not to cry.

What was the last voicemail you received about?
probably nothing or something stupid. I rarely check voicemail.

What's in your pocket?
I've got no pockets on me.

What are you going to do after this?
Listen to music, probably get a snack or something because I am hungry as fuck, then sleep/consider sleeping.

What do you do when a telemarketer calls?
Hang up usually, though I remember when Liz and I used to have fun with them and tell them whoever they were asking for died the week prior. We were the cool kids :)

What makes you happy?
Being around friends, hearing from friends, good food (when I'm not full), writing (usually),

Do you have your tonsils?
yes

What side of the bed do you sleep on?
The side closest to my book shelf/alarm clock/lamp.

Is it harder to be rejected or to reject someone else?
I hate rejecting people, but regardless of how painful it is for me to reject someone, I think I hurt more when I've been rejected.

What is the best thing about your current job?
I'm a student--hanging out with friends.

What was the last thing you drank?
Some weird fruit drink thing.

Have you been on a date in the past week?
Nope

Are most of the friends in your life new or old?
The good friends are old, but I'm beginning to meet a lot of new people here, so I'm not sure.

Have you ever gotten so wasted you didn’t know what was going on?
Not really, I always stop myself before completely losing it.

Do you like pulpy orange juice?
sometimes.

Did you cry at your high school graduation?
No.

Which could you tolerate more, a sleep walker or someone who snores?
Snores.

What is something your friends make fun of you for?
old friends: like, everything I do. new friends: the fact that I say "ya'll"

What is your worst personality flaw?
I get jaded sometimes for no real reason and will occasionally get stuck on "what if" scenarios.

Have you ever gone to therapy?
Nope

Would you ever parachute off of a plane?
Hopefully one day I will.

Are you Irish in any way?
Doubtful, though people up here seem to think I look like I'm Irish?

Do you like to play Scrabble?
Yeah.

Have you ever drank Jack Daniels?
Probably.

Have you ever gone to a party where you were the only sober person?
No

What do you do when you spot a bug in your house?
Depends on the bug.

When is the last time you ate peanut butter and jelly?
wayyyy too long ago. I love that shit.

Do you have a desk in your room?
Yeah

Have you ever gotten naked at a party?
Haha no, though there is a floor somewhere at EC where clothing is not required.

Are you named after one of your parents or grandparents?
Not really. I mean, my middle name is Elizabeth and my mom's mom is Elida which is Latin for Eliza or something like that, but I don't think they put that much thought into it.

Who is the most spoiled person you know?
Hahaha, this one girl I know. She's hella funny and I love her to death, but damn dude.

Would you rather have a million dollars or true love?
True love

Is your birthday on a holiday?
No. Though it is on D-Day.

Do you have any friends or family in the war right now?
Friends and friends of friends.

Do you worry about global warming?
not necessarily worry about it, but I am aware of the issues

Do you want to hit something?
Not right now.

How many people have you kissed so far in 2008?
Just friends and family.

Were you happy when you woke up today?
Not really. I woke up at 9:30.

Do you hate the last person you kissed?
Not at all.

Are you texting anyone right now?
Nope.

Who was the last person who called you?
My mom. Before that, Greg.

Is your ex still in your life as a friend?
All of the guys I've initially said no to (except for 2) are very good friends of mine.

Are you wearing any clothes that don't belong to you?
nope

Have you ever liked someone who all your friends hate?
yeah. then I realized that she really is a crazy bitch.

Who's the last boy you saw, and where?
I saw Reece in the lounge just over an hour ago. Heard Esteban and Matt go next door not too long ago.

What's more important to you, good grades or having fun?
Both.

Do you like the song 'I Kissed A Girl' by Katy Perry?
Not really, no. I'll listen to it when someone else is DJ-ing and I feel like being nice and not saying anything. other than that- no.

Do you listen to your friend's advice when they give it to you?
Depends. I usually don't ask for advice.

Whats the last kind of soup you ate?
Clam chowder.

What's so great about the Jonas Brothers?
Jonas Brothers suck.

What kind of dog do you want?
Sometimes I want a big dog, other times I want a small dog. I think a medium-sized one would be good, though I don't know anything about breeds.

Could you eat nothing but grilled cheese for a week straight?
Probably if I needed to, though I doubt I would.

What color was the last drink you consumed?
Light pinkish.

Could you last an hour without talking?
Depends on who I'm around, but, if I wanted to, yes I could.

Do you think your last ex deserves to die?
No

Will your next kiss be a mistake?
No

Do you think you can last in a relationship for 3 months?
Definitely.

Have you lost friends in the past 3 years?
Yeah.

Do you care if people hate you for no reason?
Depends on who it is.

Things about the opposite sex you notice first?
height, unless they're sitting down, then facial expressions.

Are you happy?
Yeah.

Is your room clean?
Not really.

Has anyone got on your nerves lately?
Not really.

What was the last book you read?
I finished reading Getting Over It (the book Cheyney recommended for me) before I left for Boston. Now I'm kinda reading The Master and Margarita, though I've not had much time since the plane.

Do you bite your fingernails?
Sometimes, but not really.

Do you watch a lot of TV?
Not really.

What are you seriously wearing?
green soffe shorts, pink powderpuff shirt, yeah....

What does your hair look like?
down, kinda wet, and relatively messy.

Where did you sleep last night?
my dorm room bed.

Did you have a good day yesterday?
yeah

Where is the person you gave your heart to for the first time?
good question.

Have you ever thought about converting your religion?
When I was in middle school, I stopped being Christian.

Have your parents ever smoked pot?
Doubt it.

Last time you cried really hard?
It's been a while.
"Bagel Bites Are The Devil"

So. I'm at college. WTF?

MIT thus far is actually pretty cool, though my classes start on September 3rd, so I've still got a whole week to chillax and meet new people.

I got up to Cambridge on Friday, the 23rd but since we got here too late to check in, I stayed at the hotel that night and checked in Saturday morning instead. I almost didn't want to check in on Friday anyway, though, because I know how emotional my mom gets about this kind of stuff so I was trying to maximize available time with her and my dad. They both decided to come up with me since only my mom went with Eric and I think my dad kind of regrets not going to drop him off. At any rate, they left Tuesday morning. I walked all the way to their hotel from my dorm to say bye, but since it was dark and they didn't want me walking by myself to some other dorm to see a few of my friends they walked with me.

The campus really isn't that big, it's just long. I'm in the second farthest house on the West Side, where the next house down (actually called Next House) is 0.7-miles from main campus/student center. It takes quite a bit of time to get from one place to another around here.

I'm meeting with my adviser to talk about classes tomorrow. I really hope classes aren't that hard. I mean, everyone said SMH was difficult and I barely did shit except for in my physics classes or classes that I actually liked (like Chem AP). Other than that- worthless. Plus I think there are only 8 freshman who are actually staying in my dorm so I can always get help from upperclassmen who have already taken the class.

On the social spectrum of college, I've actually met a lot of different people. The roommate is pretty cool: Her name is Dora (yes, like the Explorer) and she's really nice and extremely random. Definitely cool to be able to just chill in the room with her. She's always finding some way to amuse herself. Like right now she's trying to go to sleep and noticed the paint on the wall chips.

At any rate- I'll have to update more later with everything else and more specifics. Damn keyboard is loud and Dora and I have to wake up early.

At any rate, the first two are songs I wrote, the third is a cover to the song Wonderwall by Oasis.

sidenote: ignore the random ads. I didn't know where else to upload them. Sorry.
